In this women's only Intro to Woodworking class, we welcome anyone who identifies as a woman. Cis, trans, non-binary, and queer women of all ages, races, and ethnicities are encouraged to participate.
How does wood become furniture? Join this introductory workshop and find out! In this class we show you the function and safe use of the most common tools for furniture making. You will use the table saw, bandsaw, jointer, planer, and drill press to make a beautiful hardwood cutting board. Instructors will discuss how to select material, orient grain for a pleasing aesthetic, mill wood, and choose a proper finish. This is an excellent introductory class for anyone curious about woodworking.
All materials and supplies are included. Class is limited to eight students.
Please note, it is critical that students arrive on time. We cannot allow students who have missed instruction to join the class late. This is a serious safety concern, and we appreciate your understanding.
Starting September 30, 2021, Allied Woodshop will require all students and instructors to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to attend a group class. Proof of vaccination will need to be shown at the start of the class. If you are unable to provide proof of vaccination, a negative COVID-19 test result taken within 72 hours prior to the class may be accepted. For a multi-session class, a new negative test result will be required each week. There is no need for a second test for a class that takes place over 2 consecutive days.
If you have any questions about this policy, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for a prompt response.
Masks covering the nose and mouth will still be required during all classes.
Each eight student class has two experienced woman instructors.
