With roots set in the base of the Wind River Mountain Range of Wyoming, furniture designer/maker Todd Hewitt was at a young age surrounded by resourceful craftsman and ranchers who continuously found creative design solutions in isolated working conditions. A hands on approach now engrained into his 22 years in the furniture industry.
In the beginning with chainsaw in tow Todd would walk the back woods of Wyoming looking for the perfect materials in the production of his Live Edge/ log furniture designs. Here he gained an appreciation for the beauty of lines in nature and an environment friendly approach to the raw materials.
Moving to Seattle in 2000 to study Industrial Design he began working in the Pacific Northwest Craftsman Style of furniture. Embracing a fondness for architects Frank Lloyd Wright, Greene and Greene and designer Charles Rennie Macintosh. In 2006 Todd joined Seattle based Henrybuilt. A worldwide industry-leading manufacturer of luxury kitchen/whole house systems and furniture. There he honed a strong understanding in the fields of design process, engineering, leadership, operations and manufacturing. His collaborations on the award winning products such as the Opencase Storage System, Viola Park, Wave Bench and Barblock are highly recognized throughout the design and architecture community.
In 2014 he joined Los Angeles based Environment Furniture, as their Director of Product Development. Working with a trendsetter of reclaimed furniture he looked to further the sustainable aesthetic with a clean, modern and lighter sense of style to the design of new case products.
Now he enjoys working as an independent consultant in the areas of product design, operations and engineering. He is also specializing in the development of his own product designs through Last Ditch Design.
