Do I need woodworking experience to attend a workshop?
Generally, no. Our workshop descriptions say if a pre-requisite is required for a class.
I signed up for a workshop but I can’t make it. What is your refund policy?
All workshops are non-refundable. You can transfer the fee to another class once, with at least one week’s advance notice. You can also give your seat to a friend. To cancel or transfer your spot, please email email@example.com.
Do you sell gift certificates?
Yes! We offer gift certificates in print or electronic form. If you would like to gift a class, please include in the purchase notes the name of the recipient and whether you would like the certificate to be e-mailed or snail-mailed to you. Print gift certificates typically arrive in 3-5 business days.
Can my kid take a class? Can I come too?
We offer youth woodworking workshops every few months. These classes are mostly suitable for kids aged 10-17. Please check our calendar to see when the next youth class will take place. You’re welcome to take the class with your child. You’ll need to purchase a seat for both you and your kid.
Do you offer private instruction?
Yes, we do offer private instruction at the rate of $125/hour. More here.
Do you offer private workshops for groups?
Our class schedule stays pretty full, but you can always email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to see if we can accommodate your request.
Where do I park?
Parking is available in nearby lots for $5-$7/day, cash only. We recommend the lots on Pico Blvd just East of Wall St. Drive up the ramp and an attendant will direct you to a space. Myrtle Ave has 10-hour, metered parking for $4/day and the meters accept credit cards. Street parking is free in most street spaces after 6pm and on Sundays, just be sure to check the signs. For evening classes, do not park in the garages or you risk being locked in or towed.
What should I wear?
Please wear comfortable clothing and close-toed shoes. Boots or sneakers are fine and long pants are preferable. Do not wear loose or baggy clothing and please tie back long hair. No dangly jewelry. Please note, this is a woodshop with no AC. You can expect to get sweaty and dusty. Woodworking is hard work!
What are my lunch options?
We’ll break for lunch around 12:30pm. There are a number of restaurants and street vendors nearby. We recommend Restaurante El Carbon for sinaloan style BBQ, Paul’s Kitchen for Chinese, or Santee Falafel for Mediterranean. You're also welcome to bring a lunch and eat in the shop.
