Kirtan is a woodworker and furniture designer from Altadena in the San Gabriel Valley.  Having lived in California, Japan, and New York, she finds herself influenced both by the  craftsman style of Southern California, and the minimalist clean lines of Eastern  architecture. She fell in love with woodworking in New York, and was inspired by the excitement of its creative community. Being largely self-taught, Kirtan relies on continuous  practice and care to achieve the expertise needed to create beautiful and functional  furniture. "Harmony and balance are the utmost goals in anything I create."

Kirtan is the owner of the educational space Allied Woodshop, and the co-owner of Allied Woodworkers, an attached co-working space for a dedicated woodworking community. Her goal with Allied is to provide a space where everyone can feel safe to explore this wonderful craft, free of judgement and big egos.

Some day, Kirtan hopes to share her love of woodworking with her children.
