About the Free Fire Victims Intro to Woodworking Class

This Intro to DIY class is offered at no cost for anyone who lost their possessions in the fires or can't return to their home. We're offering this class for those who want to take a few hours to do something fun that's just for you, while learning a new skill that can be useful. Tell your friends, family members, or neighbors about this class! But please limit the number of registrations to one per person so that everyone has an opportunity to sign up for the class.

There are a lot of things you can build at home with just a few tools. In this class, you'll learn how to use the most common household power tools that can all be easily packed away at the end of your project. Our expert instructors will show you all the basics while guiding you through your build. You'll even go home with a folding sawhorse and the skills to make its twin for your future DIY projects!

Tools used in this class:

• Circular saw
• Drill / driver / impact driver
• Orbital Sander
• Measuring, marking, and clamping tools

All materials and supplies are included.

Please note, it is critical that students arrive on time. We cannot allow students who have missed instruction to join the class late. This is a serious safety concern, and we appreciate your understanding.

Allied Woodshop is located at 4160 Whiteside Street, Los Angeles, CA 90063. Free parking on site and additional free street parking available.

Instructors
Each full daytime class includes at least one woman/trans/non-binary instructor.

What to Wear
Comfortable clothing and close-toed shoes. Boots or sneakers are fine and long pants are preferable. Do not wear loose or baggy clothing and please tie back long hair. No dangly jewelry. Please note, this is a woodshop with no AC. You can expect to get sweaty and dusty. Woodworking is hard work!
